We are a home school family with three kids. We are in the process of choosing electives for next year. Do you now or have you ever included Latin in your curriculum? If so, does your family enjoy it and have you found it to be of any use? If not, do you have any suggestions for a good academic elective. We already include French.

I am currently in public school in 8th grade thinking of becoming home schooled. I was just wondering how do you go about getting out of public school.
I live in California.

He is being mainstreamed this year, and he is just not happy. He cries everyday when he comes home, and this goes on through the night. He is now having headaches and stomache aches. He told me the kids yell at him in class, as though they think he cannot hear at all. He's also being picked on at recess, but the teachers always seem to place the blame on my child. I have tried to work it out with the school, but my son just seems so unhappy, they said he laid on the floor most the day crying. I had to go pick him up early, turns out he was faking a headache to get to come home. He is only in first grade this year, and I want him to have the best chance to succeed, and I'm not sure if I know how to teach a special needs child, even though I have homeschooled two other children for 5 years. I know I will do what I have to do, but how long should I let this go on? This same school didn't even want to provide him with what he needed to learn for his disability.

Do you think home schooled kids should be allowed in public school sports, advanced classes, and bands? Give as many reasons that you can think of as to why this should or shouldn't be allowed. There are real debates and arguments I've seen on this issue, and it is called equal access. I want to see what some other people think and why. Thanks.
I live in New York and it is not allowed by state. I know that now 16 states allow it but the majority don't.

I am a teacher in the UK, and I am interested in the popularity of home-schooling in the US as it doesn't really happen here. Could you tell me please, for what reasons would you choose to home-school? Do you think they get a better education, and in what way? Thank you!

I am from a place with very difficult home school laws. I would love to hear from parents in states with less restrictive laws.
Very interesting. Are all other states DIFFICULT? Please respond with your home school experience, even if negative. Thank you for all answers. I am extending the expiration hoping for other answers.
I'm presently working locally to improve my state's home study laws, which are quite restrictive. Any links to good home school laws would be helpful. Thanks so much for the answers so far.
