How can someone graduate home school high school at 16?
June 26th, 2009 | by |Does home school have the same curriculum as the public schools? Isn't it easier, otherwise how does someone finish high school at 16?

The laws differ from state to state, but here's a general answer for you:
Schools are filled with senseless busywork. You know the kind…you master a concept in algebra, but still have to do 75 problems for homework. In homeschooling, you move on once you have mastered a concept. You skip the nonsensical busywork, the needless review, the useless classes. You don't have to wait for the entire class to hand in homework…or to settle down.
Therefore, a homeschool student takes mere weeks to accomplish months of standard curriculum.

There is no one answer. Each state home schooling laws differ. Home schools do not have a "curriculum." You can study at your own pace, and therefore, may do the upper class work when younger. It is not easier, just different. Also, some home schoolers go to community college for classes. In our area the classes are worth 3x the units, so one semester is worth one year of high school, if you are in a district program. My son graduated from high school (with a home school district program) at 16, needing only PE and health for his AA. So, there are ways to do it that are not easier, or cheating. That is what I think you are thinking home school parents are doing! Just graduation their kids early. Also, my daughter just took the CHSPE test, that gives the equivalent of a diploma. You only have to be done with 10th grade or 16 years old.

well alli can say is martin luther king junior did because he was really smart so i guess that is a yes you can graduate high school at the age of 16!!!

It is not that it is easier, but that you can work at your own pace. Yes it is possible.

Yes, you get the same education but you spend less time pissig of your teachers
to graduate you take your exams and submit coursework in an exam center rather than a school. You study the same things but it's more flexible.

Well it is definatelt possible to graduate at 16. My birthday is in august and I wil be graduating a year early, I will be 16. I am most definitely not a super smart kid. Like some of the comments above if you are homeschooled you are able to get ahead and get more help than attending a regular school. I’m homeschooled myself and I love it!
